STEEL STRUCTURE: Columns are fixed to the foundations by anchor bolts embedded in the concrete. Construction elements are connected to each other with galvanized, high-tensile steel bolts. Steel quality is according to EN 10025 (corresponding to S 355 and S 235 respectively). All welded and hot-rolled construction elements are shot-blasted according to SA 2. and have an 80  µ anti-corrosion coating in either red, blue or grey. Steel quality according to EN 10025, corresponding to S 355. Fire protection is easily achieved, at lower cost, by protecting only the lower flange of the floor beams. HOLLOW-CORE ELEMENTS: Floor decking is made-to-measure and offers a smooth underside finish. †¢ Concrete quality: C 55 according to EN †¢ Thickness : 20, 27, 32 or 40 cm †¢ Width: 1. 20 m (cut-to-length on demand) †¢ Spans: up to 13 m †¢ Fire resistance: 30 120 min. Openings for staircases and lift wells, or for technical installations, (heating/ventilation/electrical ducting, etc) can be planned on request and madeto-measure. INSTALLATION: Precast hollow-core elements are installed directly from the truck without intermediate storage. The elements are placed on the lower flange of the INODEK beams by means of a special lifting equipment. The diaphragm action of the concrete slab is assured by installing a peripheral tie beam: either by reinforcement bars that are laid into the factory prepared channels or by steel beams. 6 DOUBLE SKIN ROOF SYSTEM The double skin roof consists of two steel panels; the lower is fixed directly to the roof purlins with omega spacers and ASTROTHERM insulation installed below the outer panel. DOUBLE SKIN ROOF SYSTEM: The double skin roof employs a PR roof panel (trapezoidal panel) as the inner skin plus a standing seam CF panel as the exterior skin. The PR (or alternatively, a PS roof panel) is always used as the interior skin. The easy installation of these panels allows the building to be made weather-tight quickly and thus speeds up the interior finishing and occupancy . ADVANTAGES: †¢ †¢ †¢ †¢ †¢ †¢ Fulfills highest energy saving requirements Low heating costs Excellent acoustical performance Good fire rating Quick and easy erection Early start to the interior finishing of the building †¢ Large range of accessories TECHNICAL DETAILS: Cold-rolled Z-profile purlins are bolted to the rafters on a 1. 5m spacing. To these are fixed the inner skin and Omega spacers. The height of the Omega spacers depends on the thickness of the ASTROTHERM insulation to be installed (nominal thicknesses: 100, 120, 200 mm). The inner steel panel serves as a vapour barrier, allowing the use of an insulation without facing and achieving a fire classification of A2. A continuous rail is fixed to the Omega spacers over which the exterior skin of the roof is installed. Using ASTROTHERM insulation with nominal thickness of 200 mm, an Um value of 0. 20 W/(m2 ·K) can be achieved. 7 OTHER ROOF SYSTEMS According to building plans and regulatory and/or other requirerments, alternative roof systems can be employed. ADVANTAGES: †¢ †¢ †¢ †¢ †¢ †¢ Attractive aesthetics of a standing seam roof Hidden fasteners; fixed from the inside No piercing of the roof skin Extremely long lasting Optimum weather-tightness Free thermal expansion/contraction of the roof CF ROOF SYSTEM: The CF profile is a standing seam roof panel that can also be employed as the exterior skin of a double skin roof. A clip, integrated into the standing seam longitudinal connection, is fixed to the omega rail and the roof panels without any piercing of the roof skin. This standing seam connection, which includes a factory-installed butyl sealant, ensures an excellent fit and weather-tightness. The clips are designed to compensate for any eventual thermal expansion/contraction of the panels. ADVANTAGES: †¢ †¢ †¢ †¢ †¢ Low peak height Simple and low cost parapet Can be used for complex roof shapes Simple and economical rainwater drainage High degree of thermal insulation (depending on the specification of the built-up roof system) MULTITEC-ROOF SYSTEM: The MULTITEC roof system is based on coldformed, colour-coated or galvanized ribbed steel panels. The Kamikazes essays

The Kamikazes essays Kamikaze was a type of Japanese pilot who flew suicide missions during the last months of World War II (1939-1945). The kamikazes were trained to dive airplanes loaded with the explosives into certain targets, usually American naval vessels. They were much like a human bullet. The suicide planes were also called kamikazes. Japan was desperate when it launched the kamikaze missions. Its military leaders viewed the kamikazes as the last hope of stopping the powerful Allied advance. But the plan didnt work. The first kamikaze attacks occurred in October 1944, when the Allies invaded the Japanese-held Philippines. More than a thousand kamikazes took part in the defense of Okinawa in 1945. Kamikaze pilots, sacrificing their lives in a last-ditch effort to stop the American advance, sank about 30-40 ships and damaged more than 350 others. They thought the Allied forces would have some trouble because they were losing so many warships. America wouldve been long time ago. In those days naval vessels were so abundant that the U.S. were having trouble finding enough sailors to man the ship. But the kamikazes failed to sink any large aircraft carriers-their main targets-and in time proved to be a costly failure. They became more important for the kind of resistance they symbolized than for the damage they caused. The word kamikaze means divine wind. During the summer of 1281 the Emperor assigned an enormous army of 140,000 troops to the conquest of the Japanese islands. An armada of four thousands ships sailed, once again bound for Hakata Bay to fight the Mongols. Kublai Khans forces landed. The battle was fought again, and once more the Mongols turned back to the beach. The Japanese fought valiantly, but with the enormous resources of the Mongols breached the defenses. Then, one night almost without warning, a powerful typhoon blew through most of their battle equipment and horses, and d...

Museum of natural history Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Museum of natural history - Essay Example An enormous component of my fascination with them is their use of sword like items which have great meaning to their culture. My specific choice of swords is the Phurba. Some say that they were in use during the time of Shakyamuni Buddha, over 2500 years ago, particularly in the indigenous communities of Tibet. Others speculate even earlier origins. Padmasambhava is credited with the invention of the phurba. During the struggle against the demons that were fighting the establishment of Buddhism in Tibet, he is said to have pulled out a peg from the tent of a non-believer and, using the peg to nail down evil spirits, consecrated the ground on which the Samye Monastery was established in the eighth century. This simple peg became the Phurba, an important tool of religious practice that is used to this day. The Khadga is known as the fire sword which is paired with phurba. The Bodhisattva Manjursi, who is the embodiment of wisdom, is shown wielding the symbol of enlightenment. The fire is used to destroy the darkness of ignorance by the fiery rays which burst from the end of the sword. Wisdom is the sword that slices away illusion and wisdom is the final symbol of awareness. The first cut of the sword of wisdom is the decisive one, which is the dawn of enlightenment.

Great Advertisement Essay Example for Free

Great Advertisement Essay When you think about advertisements you don’t realize what’s within, Weasel words. Weasel words are just a tricky skill used by the advertisers. People who try to persuade you into buying their product are using a trick mask they hope you don’t see. While thinking of how to develop this essay I found a great advertisement that relates a Wrinkle-free lotion to be exact. I looked at it and I was surprised to see how fake it looked, and how desperate they were. Also how badly they wanted for the audience to buy it. They used weasel words in all of the advertisement; it was basically covered with it. An example is â€Å"less wrinkles in only sixty minutes†. The â€Å"Less wrinkles† statement doesn’t actually tell you that all your wrinkles are going to go away it may be only some or maybe just one. â€Å"Sixty minutes† statement is another weasel word because that’s basically what people like to hear and say â€Å"wow this really works†. Plus the pictures has a big role in all this, It shows a before and after picture. That’s how they try to get our attention away from the actual meaning. The whole advertisement is misleading. Why? It gives a wrong impression. It says less wrinkles not every wrinkle will disappear, which is what the viewers have in mind that all the wrinkles will go away. Another misleading fact is that it says sixty minutes. Well what about if you leave it on for sixty minutes but it still hasn’t worked enough so you leave it longer but you think â€Å"Oh it’s just 10 minutes more†. They impress the viewer with the sixty minutes when that is not even realistic or possible maybe with a surgery you can have less wrinkles in some hours not with a lotion. Also the viewer doesn’t know what is in the lotion they just put it on because on the advertisement it says it works. The viewer may be putting something on their skin that can damage it permanently. To make it even better they add an image that tricks the viewer. Well first of all, it looks like two different people. The image which is the lady with wrinkles is an older woman. The other lady has no wrinkles at all and is young like in her twenties and in the bottom it has a caption that says â€Å"I’m wrinkle less†. Another strategy is they go towards a certain audience. The audience is mostly for women in their thirty’s and up. When seeing an advertisement you don’t realize that beneath it theirs tricks used by the advertiser. Many products can trick us with images or emotionally. Especially when its something that people want. Just remember how advertisers twist words to make us think one thing when its another, that’s because they know weasel words.

At each level of management, the responsibilities for handling these tasks differ. Top-level managers are responsible for establishing organizational objectives. Middle-level managers organize and control the organization’s resources to achieve these objectives, whereas lower-level managers supervise day-to-day activities. Each of these three levels of management has distinct information systems needs. First line supervisors require feedback about day-to-day activities. Middle level managers need information that will enable them to reallocate resources to achieve objectives. Top-level managers use external information to identify new business opportunities and to establish goals for the firm. Euthanasi The Argument Against Euthanasia - 1945 Words

Euthanasia is â€Å"killing or passing up opportunities to save someone, out of concern for that person.† Arguments for euthanasia is the prevention of the unnecessary prolonging of suffering of the patient who is diagnosed with a terminal illness, and their families, also, there is the argument of using resources, economic and human, in efforts to keep people who have incurable diseases alive. Arguments against euthanasia is that the thought of having assisted suicide could be a result of misdiagnosis from a doctor, and also, that euthanasia is the process of killing someone, which is immoral. These views can be analyzed by using two different theories of ethics, consequentialism, or utilitarianism, and deontological theories. As a utilitarian, who focuses on the best consequence for the greatest number of people, they could be both for and against euthanasia. The utilitarian who is for euthanasia might say that allowing a person who is suffering to die can help others out. Euthanasia would be helpful in the way that it would provide those who are in dire need of organs with the organs of the person who was euthanized. Although it is immoral to kill someone, as a utilitarian, looking at the benefit of saving many lives with one life is the best consequence. Also, another argument the utilitarian would make for euthanasia is the unnecessary use of resources, human and economic, devoted to keep a terminally ill person alive, when they could be used to help people who have aShow MoreRelatedEuthanasi An Argument Against Euthanasia1865 Words   |  8 PagesThe topic of euthanasia is an analysis of jurisprudence and has been a subject of debate and expostulation for many a years.
